Project Brief: Design a space that enables and facilitates creativity and lateral thinking on Frutech’s researchers. Spaces like these along with measured freedom has been proven to increase employees’ productivity and has helped them come up with more creative solutions to the problems they face on their day to day tasks.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Frutech International Corporation is a Mexican company that produces and sells essential oils with a special focus on citric fruits. Its headquarters are located in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, and they’re currently in the process of building a new research facility in Mérida, Yucatán.
ABOUT THE RESEARCH
We did an ethnographic research where we conducted interviews with the company’s employees and other researchers in the field to get to know our user more in depth. We did this since we needed to learn more about the company, the investigation field, the region (the investigation center is being constructed in Merida, Yucatan, while we were all from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon), and how creativity can be triggered.

IDEATION PROCESS & DESIGN
These next images show part of our design and ideation process where we translated our findings from our research into designs that fulfilled them.We concentrated on designing five main products which are shown ahead.

We put in a touch of Yucatán’s style by adding patterns on our products derived from those worn on the typical knitted dresses.

MOCK-UPS AND FINAL RENDERINGS
In order to determine ergonomic dimensions, suitable for our user, we made some mock-ups out of cardboard to get a better perspective. Renderings helped us visualize how our products fit in the space and show our design to our client.
